> The Caged Pheasant

By sedron | November 2, 2007

The CageFinding food is not easy for the wild pheasant, traveling ten steps before getting a single worm.

Even though it has to walk a hundred paces for a drink of water, it still prefers this living to being locked up in a cage

On the other hand, a caged pheasant may have enough to eat and drink, and its feathers may be bright and shiny. But, it will always crave the freedom of being on the outside.

The person who understands how to nurture life would never pursue material pleasure at the expense of freedom. Yet, in today’s society, how many truly carefree people do you see?

Do people pursue material pleasure such as wealth, reputation, beauty, big house, expensive LCD, etc because they want to ? Or, is it the society that we create from our own hands mold the way we behave?

澤雉十步一啄,百步一飲,不蘄畜乎樊中。神雖王,不善也。
